چکیده

This article investigates the reliability of three existing near-surface mounted (NSM) fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) bond strength models including ACI 440.2R-17 model and two fracture mechanics-based models. Various load combinations reduction factors included in guidelines CSA S806-12(17) standard are considered. The uncertainty is evaluated using data gathered from 451 experimental specimens available literature with careful consideration reported modes failure their combinations. A analysis based on first-order second-moment (FOSM) method conducted for both strips bars against dead, live, snow, wind loads accounting uncertainties due to geometrical mechanical properties NSM FRP-to-concrete joints. provides a platform choosing proper practical range target indices. results show that considered respect requires major improvements. proposed this study able improve indices significantly provisions when different

ANN BASED MODELING FOR HIGH STRENGTH CONCRETE BEAMS WITH SURFACE MOUNTED FRP LAMINATES

This study focuses on using an artificial neural network (ANN) based model for predicting the performance of high strength concrete (HSC) beams strengthened with surface mounted FRP laminates. Eight input parameters such as geometrical properties of the beam and mechanical properties of FRP laminates were considered for this study. Back propagation network with Lavenberg-Marquardt algorithm has...

Bond Characteristics of Various Frp Strengthening Techniques

Strengthening of reinforced concrete structures using FRP has emerged as a potential solution to the problems associated with civil infrastructure. Many researchers have reported significant increases in strength and stiffness of concrete structures strengthened with FRP. Nevertheless, possible brittle failures of the strengthened system due to delamination of the FRP strips and/or sheets could...

Effect of Varied Surface Roughness, Putty Thickness and Concrete Strength on the Interfacial Bond Strength of FRP to Concrete

The use of bonded fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) sheets for upgrade or repair of aging and deteriorating concrete structure has emerged as a viable and cost effective method. Previous research has identified several items that influence FRP-concrete bond strength including concrete strength, type of FRP laminate, the number of layers of the FRP laminate, and the bonding agent or epoxy saturant ...

De Lorenzis, and A. Nanni, “Bond Between Near Surface Mounted FRP Rods and Concrete in Structural Strengthening,” ACI Structures

The use of Near Surface Mounted (NSM) Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) rods is a promising technology for increasing flexural and shear strength of deficient reinforced concrete (RC) members. As this technology emerges, the structural behavior of RC elements strengthened with NSM FRP rods needs to be fully characterized, and bond is the first issue to be addressed. Bond is of primary importance s...
